Every follower of Jesus will face spiritual battles. Some are obvious. Others are subtle.
Discouragement whispers that your faith isn't making a difference. Temptation promises satisfaction apart from God. Division quietly works its way into relationships. Fear convinces us that we're on our own.
The enemy's greatest victories often don't begin with dramatic moments. They begin with small compromises, growing isolation, and quiet discouragement. That's why Paul's final encouragement in Ephesians is so important. He reminds believers to stand firm—not in their own strength, but in the strength that God provides.
Notice the language throughout the passage. The armor is given to believers who stand together. Roman soldiers often locked shields together, creating a wall of protection that was nearly impossible to penetrate. Alone, each soldier was vulnerable. Together, they became remarkably strong.
The same is true for the Church. One of the enemy's favorite strategies is isolation. He wants us to believe no one understands, no one cares, and no one will notice if we quietly drift away. But God designed His family to stand shoulder to shoulder, praying for one another, encouraging one another, and reminding one another of the truth when lies seem convincing.
Who is standing with you? And who are you standing beside?
This week, don't fight your battles in silence. Reach out to someone you trust. Ask for prayer. Encourage another believer who may be struggling. Spend intentional time in God's Word. Pray before the battle instead of only after you've become overwhelmed.
Victory isn't found because we're strong enough. Victory belongs to Christ. Our confidence comes from knowing that the One who called us is faithful, the Spirit who lives within us is greater than the one who opposes us, and the family of God is walking beside us.
The battle is real.
But so is the presence of God.
And that's why we can stand firm, together.
