Our Biblical Convictions on Marriage and Gender
At Parkway Church, we believe the Bible is God’s Word and our ultimate authority for what we believe and how we live. Because of this, our understanding of marriage, sexuality, and gender is shaped by Scripture rather than by changing cultural values or personal preferences.
We recognize that these subjects are deeply personal and can be difficult to discuss. Our desire is to hold faithfully to biblical truth while treating every person with dignity, compassion, and respect. We believe every person is created in the image of God and is deeply loved by Him. We also believe that following Jesus calls each of us to surrender every area of our lives to His design and authority.
The following statements summarize Parkway Church’s biblical convictions regarding marriage, sexuality, and gender. These convictions guide our teaching, ministry practices, leadership expectations, and organizational decisions.
Statement on Marriage
Parkway Church operates on a strongly held belief that the marriage relationship has been established by God as a union between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24; Ephesians 5:31). Parkway Church further holds that, in accordance with Scripture, sexual intimacy and sexual activity is appropriate only within the
marriage relationship, between one husband and one wife. (I Corinthians 7:2; Hebrews 13:4).
Accordingly, Parkway Church views the following behaviors as sinful and contrary to Scripture:
Statement on Gender
Parkway Church believes God has created two distinct and complementary genders, male and female, and each person is created in accordance with God’s
perfect design (Genesis 1:27; Matthew 19:4). Accordingly, Parkway Church views the following behaviors as inappropriate and
contrary to Scripture:

- Any other activity, teaching, or behavior that is contrary to a biblical view of marriage and/or appropriate behavior as outlined in this provision.
